Meet Katie Nash, an Eric Fisher Academy Alum Meet Katie Nash, an Eric Fisher Academy Alum

She Attended Both Beauty School and Esthetician School!

Katie Nash’s dynamic career took her from retail management to working as a full-time esthetician in a respected Wichita, Kansas salon. And because Katie spent more time here at Eric Fisher Academy than most – completing both her cosmetology and esthetics certificates – we like to think she has a unique perspective on the beauty industry and our top esthetician school.

We sat down to talk to Katie about what she learned from Eric Fisher Academy and to catch up with her about what she’s busy doing today.

Why did you choose Eric Fisher Academy for your education?

I chose to go to Eric Fisher Academy because I felt welcomed by all the staff, and I really loved the environment. I also felt like EFA was going to give me the best connections for future job placement.

What inspired you to become an esthetician?

I am actually dual-licensed. During hair school, we did facials and waxing one day, and I realized that I was more passionate about pursuing esthetics rather than hair.

What are you doing now that you’ve graduated?

I was lucky enough to have been offered a job before I graduated EFA, at an amazing salon called Everyday Beaut located here in Wichita. I currently specialize in lash care, brow shaping, and makeup.

What surprised you the most about attending esthetics school?

Esthetics can bring so many different people together!

What advice would you give an incoming student at Eric Fisher Academy?

Be ready to learn and invest your time into every opportunity you have there. I was lucky enough to have won two international makeup awards during my time at EFA, so seize the day. Also, clock as many extra hours as you can!

What was your favorite lesson you learned at EFA?

I learned that you aren’t going to agree with everyone, and that’s okay. Esthetics can offer many avenues to achieve your end goal, so be confident in your decisions.

Can you describe what it was like to attend classes at EFA on a daily basis? How did you feel? What do you do?

The schedule as a student at EFA was a consistent routine, which is good because that’s how it relates to day-to-day life as an esthetician. You begin your morning preparing the spa and reviewing client files. Then you are able to smoothly run a full day of services.

What did you do before pursuing a career in esthetics? Or what other career were you planning to pursue?

I got my associates degree, cosmetology license, and worked full-time as a retail manager. I always had it in the back of my mind that I wanted to be in this industry; it just took me a minute to figure out esthetics is where I want to be. I am thankful to YouTube makeup tutorials for giving me the push to pursue the beauty industry!

What do you like about being an esthetician?

This will be the most cliche answer but, I like everything! There is definitely instant gratification when it comes to this career, whether it’s a full new set of lashes, a bride seeing her makeup for the first time, or transforming someone’s over-tweezed 90s brows.

What was your favorite service you learned to perform while in school?

My top two favorite services during school were chemical peels and lash extensions.
